The Black Cultural Conference is a call to action to act with courage as we collectively prepare for changes within the higher education profession as students, staff, faculty, administrators, and allies—today and in the future. It requires all to be unafraid, from undergraduate to graduate students; from faculty, administrators, staff to community members, the Black Cultural Conference will challenge all to expand one’s learning outcomes and explore the possibilities…without boundaries and igniting leaders through change. The key pillars to all presentations during the Black Cultural Conference are as follows:
Bold Scholarship
All within the realm of higher education must be unafraid to do research and create scholarship to add to the knowledge base of the professions within student affairs / academic affairs and ensure that data informs practice now, and into the future.
Bold Innovation
The future of the profession within higher education requires all to be unafraid to innovate. We must continuously seek improvement through new and creative approaches in our work to support student learning.
Bold Assessment
Administrators, faculty, staff, students and community partner professionals must be unafraid to assess; to build the capacity to create knowledge, and use data to provide evidence that will support excellence in practice.
Bold Leadership
Those working within the realm of higher education must be unafraid to lead advocacy efforts that shape the changing landscape of higher education, and to do so with commitment to authentic, honest, just, and ethical behavior.
