Dr. Shakti Butler RETURNS to UCSC!

If you missed Dr. Shakti's first visit, you DO NOT want to let another opportunity pass you.  Come to watch the film, LEARN, LISTEN AND MOVE through exercises SHAKTI BUTLER FACILITATES, to have peaceful dialogue about race and begin the process of  HEALING from pain cause by racial discrimination and ignorance.  Dr. Butler is a multiracial African-American woman (African, Arawak Indian, and Russian-Jewish) whose work as a creative and visionary bridge builder has challenged and inspired learning for over two decades. Who: Individuals which identify as Black and Queer (Inter-group conference). Students, staff and faculty encouraged to attend. 

We are looking to get a group together and drive to UCR and represent UCSC.

Alumni Weekend

 UCSC has a myriad of events planned for Alumni weekendand we encourage you to attend as many events as possible. AARCC is hosting two events in an effort to connect alumni with current students. These events include a "Meet & Greet" on Friday, April 25, 2014, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., in the Cervantes & Velasquez conference room and a symposium on Saturday, April 26, 2014, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Oakes Learning Center. COMMUNITY DAY

A time for the African Diaspora to learn more about health issues, which affect our community and promotea healthy, active lifestyle. Students are engaged with one another through sports (sand volleyball, dodgeball, flag football, etc.), dancing, health education, rock climbing and various sports. The location is Opers Field and time is 12pm to 4pm.
