Get Involved
Join our community
Be part of a thriving community dedicated to uplifting African, Black, and Caribbean (ABC) experiences, empowerment, and connection. At AARCC, there are so many ways to get involved—from mentorship and student orgs to cultural events, leadership opportunities, and student employment. Whether you want to build community, advocate for change, or celebrate identity, there’s a space for you here.

African American Mentorship Program (AAMP)
AAMP builds peer-to-peer support systems that foster community, belonging, and academic confidence. Mentors also gain leadership and professional development experience. It’s more than mentorship—it’s a commitment to lifting each other up and creating a supportive community at UCSC.

Alumni connections
Your journey doesn’t end at graduation. Alumni connections keep our African, Black, and Caribbean (ABC) community strong and thriving beyond UCSC. Through mentorship, networking events, and storytelling, alumni help build bridges between generations of Banana Slugs—uplifting the next wave of leaders.

Student organizations
Student-led organizations are at the heart of the vibrant ABC community at UCSC—offering spaces to express yourself, organize, and build lasting connections. With support from SOAR (Student Organization Advising and Resources) and SOMECA (Student Organization and Campus Events Advising), you’ll find cultural, political, artistic, and academic orgs where you can lead and belong.

ABC Housing
ABC themed living-learning communities are open to students of any college affiliation and available at many UCSC residential colleges. Utilizing the community cultural wealth model, students develop cultural competence/cultural intelligence, aspirational capital, linguistic capital, resistance capital and ally development through organizing, living, studying, and socializing with peers passionate about political, cultural, popular, social, and economic issues of the African Diaspora.

Cultural Arts & Diversity (CADrc)
The Cultural Arts and Diversity Resource Center celebrates diversity through performance, storytelling, and creative expression. With theater productions, lectures, workshops, and outreach, CADrc is a space to create, connect, and grow as a learner and leader.
